{people} Matt and Rae’s engagement

A few weeks ago I headed down to Santa Cruz to photograph my best friend’s engagement. I have known Rae my entire life–we wiggled around on the rug’s of our parents’ houses when I was as young as six weeks old. Wow. Through the years Rae and I have stayed close, and today I almost count her as my older sister more than my best friend. I couldn’t be happier for her and Matt: I can’t think of a better couple than the two of them. The way they love each other is so wonderful–they’re cute and romantic, but they’re also realistic and caring and good at taking care of each other. I’m happy now to let Rae call Matt her best friend (I get to be her sister, after all), but even more than that, to count not just Rae but Matt too as one of my nearest and dearest. Best of luck to the both of you, and I can’t wait to take wedding photos and and and. :) xoxox -S

A few years ago she made this amazing cake and I promptly made Rae type up the recipe for me. I haven’t regretted it since. I’ve made it for Mother’s Day and countless birthdays and sometimes when I’m just craving cake. It’s no joke, this cake has never let me down. Ever. [...]
