I’m taking a class this semester called ESPM 117: Urban Garden Ecosystems. On Fridays we spend two hours in the garden and on Tuesdays we spend an hour in lecture and then an hour or so at a local urban garden talking about how exactly they go about doing things. It’s exactly in my interests and it’s super super cool and inspiring, to put it in the colloquial. :)

Yesterday we made a visit to a place in West Oakland called City Slicker Farms. We went to the Secret Garden location, but they have about seven gardens totaling up to about an acre, plus they partner with locals to put subsistence gardens into their backyards. It’s a really really cool project that produces an astounding amount of food (they utilize biointensive farming to get the most out of the land that they can).  Check it out! :)
