retail shopping + my first watermelon of summer

I have come to realize which group of “retail therapy” shoppers I belong to. Some people purchase clothes. Some people are thrift shoppers. Some buy tchotchkes and cute little household items. When I am tired and need a pick me up, I hit up the grocery store. I know this because I was there twice today. Twice, I tell you!

I was tired and riding by on my bike both times. I know, I thought. I’ll just stop in to get a little something. It was the long sets of windows through which I could see the vegetables that drew me in. Vegetables and the pretty flowers they keep outside.

The first time, I bought two mini watermelons, picture above of course, because they were on sale and looked yummy. (They were.) I also got an eggplant for pizza, two oranges, and a bunch of carrots that still had the stems on. For munching.

The second time, I bought two bars of dark chocolate+almond+sea salt (also on sale), deodorant, and a vegan cookbook.

Let’s just say I was a little more tired the second time.

In other news, my friend Joycerine had a piece of the watermelon and said, “Oh my gosh, I forgot how amazing this is. Really, I forgot what watermelon is all about.”

Well said, my friends, well said.
