Let me preface this post by telling you about my newest blog obsession: A Cup of Mai. This lovely lady is so cute and stylish! I love love love her blog… I’ve been a fan of her house redesign… and everything else she does! Head on over, give her some love, and let her know I sent you! :)

This post was her idea. The lovely Ms. Mai posted about her DIY glitter keys project back in February and I knew it was something I would have to try ASAP! :) Now that I’ve moved home and have my own set of (non-rental) house keys, I finally got around to trying this out…. and I couldn’t be happier with the results! It doesn’t take long and they make me smile every day when I use my keys. :)

Instructions: Clean keys off and then make sure they are dry. Paint each side of the top of a key with a solid color of nail polish and let dry. (I actually did both sides at the same time and dried them standing up to save some minutes. Alternately, you could do each side separately… or even different colors!) Let them dry a little past dry to the touch (an hour or so). Paint the second coat with glitter polish. Let dry for about the same amount of time (about an hour). Paint a final coat with clear polish (top coat). Let dry overnight. And then… that’s it! Enjoy for weeks and weeks! :)

Sidenote: the better quality polishes (in this case, Revlon), were certainly easier to get nice and even… but the quick dry stuff worked just fine too once I got it flat.. only took a bit more work, not too much). :)

This is seriously such an easy project with such a great level of fun… I love the outcome! :)
