I met up with Aimee and Ryan to capture their seven plus year engagement with some Half Moon Bay engagement photos just over a week ago. We’d talked about their vision for the day and I knew almost immediately that the magical trees at the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve would be the ticket to pictures they display in their home forever.
We met up on a slightly overcast day, with golden sunshine that kept peeking through the trees. I love the soft light in the forest and the way it really allowed us to focus on these two.
Aimee and Ryan met through a mutual friend at a summertime BBQ and from there, they comfortably went from friends to more. It was so much fun to watch how natural they are and how happy they are being together. I know already that they’re both excited to marry their best friend.
These are some of my favorites of each of them; don’t they look great!? :)
Besides being in love with each other, Aimee and Ryan have rescued FIVE dogs and welcomed into their home as family. I’m definitely a dog person, too, so we spent some time chatting about our pups and how much we love them. I’m excited to meet the fur babies at the wedding!
Here’s another moment when that magical golden light came streaming through the clouds and the trees. So gorgeous!
Look at that lovely, happy laugh. <3
We found this beautiful tree right on the cliffs just before we headed down to the beach for sunset. I absolutely love the way the branches are decorated red with moss – it gives the tree so much personality!
Such a cute outfit, Aimee, and I love the details!
And then we headed down to the sand. for some sunset shots by the ocean.
I love the way the cliffs here frame them. How could we go wrong with such a wonderful couple and such a beautiful setting? I love being a photographer in California!
This might be one of my favorites – mini Aimee and Ryan holding hands as they head down the beach together. It makes me smile.
These two picked out their beautiful engagement ring together. Aimee told me that she’d thought she knew what she wanted when they headed out to look, but by the time they got to the store, she almost had no idea and had to try on lots of different rings in many many different styles before they found exactly the right one for her hand. (I’ve gotta say – trying on lots of diamond rings doesn’t sound like it would be a problem! ;) )
I’m totally in love with the simple, stunning ring they picked. A gorgeous diamond at the front and then stunning little twinkly diamonds along the forever band around her finger. Swoon!
Thank you both so much for coming down to Half Moon Bay for a fun photo session. I loved working with you both and can’t wait to celebrate at your wedding with you! xo
