It was such a pleasure working with Katherine and Matt for their Berkeley engagement photos. We had a questionable day in terms of weather but decided to go ahead with the session anyways. I am so glad we did! I adore these shots around the campus (although we shot on campus just because it’s beautiful) and I absolutely love the moody feel of the weather.
We started with this rad brick wall. There aren’t a ton of brick buildings on campus, but I like to seek them out because there’s nothing like brick to give a little pop to some photos.
Over their years of dating, these two have done a lot of long distance, really working for their relationship. Now that they are together in the same city and house, it was so clear how much joy they have doing life together. It was a pleasure to spend time with a couple that does life together as equal parts romantic and a bit pragmatic. The perfect recipe for a successful relationship, if you ask me.
Last but not least, we headed up to a private balcony on campus. Matt works at Cal and so had access to their favorite place in the city. “We come up here to watch the sunset, or the fireworks on the 4th of July!” they said.
Katherine and Matt, thank you both so much for having me along to document your love. I cannot wait to celebrate your wedding with you this Fall! It’s going to be a wonderful day. xo
