McFarland Living History Ranch Wedding

Oh my goodness. What could I possibly say about Katie and Dan’s McFarland Living History Ranch wedding that would encapsulate this day?! There’s no way I can say anything better than I can photograph it, but I’ll give it my all.

First of all, I’ve known Katie since UC Berkeley, where we both worked for The Daily Californian (her on news, me on photos) and through friends we became friends. This lady is smart, saucy, funny, real, and (duh) totally gorgeous. It has been a pleasure to get to know her over the years and an even greater pleasure to get to celebrate her wedding to such a wonderful man right by her side as her photographer. I am so thankful for Katie and for these two for welcoming me into their lives! xx

This wedding was absolutely fabulous. There was rain forecast for the day, despite the fact that it was out in Lodi (wut?! it rains out there?!) and last minute, everything had to be moved around to accommodate the weather. Despite this challenge, these two rolled with the punches and their wedding managed to take place outside before the rain. Their indoor barn reception was gorgeous, exacerbated only by the magical sound of a downpour outside (and a true downpour at that).

There are so many favorite moments during this day: Dan looking emotional as Katie walks down the aisle and, conversely, Katie looking angelic on her father’s arm as they walked down that long long aisle. I loved the moody photos we took of the two of them after the ceremony, right before the rain started to come down and the moment where they sat on the porch to relax for a moment as newlyweds before joining their party. I loved the toasts, which brought so much emotion from both Katie and Dan, and the fact that they had pie instead of cake, and too many hugs to go around all evening (no, there can never be too many hugs). I loved their first dance and I also loved their first dances with their parents, all so happy you could cry (and did). Honestly, it was a truly perfect McFarland Historical Ranch wedding.
