Photographing Nana and Li’s Berkeley engagement session was an absolute pleasure. I adore these two and I am SO excited to celebrate their wedding with them this September in Mendocino / Fort Bragg area. Since there wedding will be somewhere gorgeous, outside, and striking, we wanted to do something completely different for their engagement photos. Berkeley residents, we thought it would be fun to celebrate their daily life and the little ways that they celebrate weekends and afternoons together.
Nana and Li are big fans of Ici. This exceptional ice cream place in Berkeley (on College) is known for its interesting flavors and dedication to high quality ice cream. Almost every evening, there’s a really long line out the door. Get in line early and start dreaming of which flavor you’ll try this time.
And then we headed to one of their other favorite places, the Elmwood Café! With it’s yellow awnings, cute outdoor patio, and delicious food, this place is a winner, for sure. These two snuck in an afternoon coffee in the sunshine and I think it looked like a quick minute in Paris.
Golden sunshine and happy smiles. We got lucky (maybe because it was later in the day?) and had almost nobody in the outside patio with us! I was worried this spot would be super busy, but I’m so happy with how everything worked out. And these photos are some of my favorite from the session.
We just had to stop at this tree on our way home. The owner of this home came out on her way to the grocery store and was so happy to see us loving on her tree. haha. I’m glad we can all appreciate an explosion of color like this!
Last but not least, this little spot. This design showed up in Berkeley not that long ago and I’ve just always loved walking by. I’m especially glad to have gotten a chance to share with these two for this session.
Nana, Li, thank you both so much for having me along to celebrate your engagement and explore Berkeley and eat ice cream with you. I had the best afternoon and I can’t wait to spend some time in Mendocino with you both to celebrate your wedding (in one of the prettiest places ever). How did I get so lucky to get to call this my job?! <3
