Piedmont Community Hall Wedding
This beautiful, elegant, and classy Piedmont Community Hall wedding was an absolute pleasure to photograph. Everything from the ceremony under the redwoods to the dinner under the sunset to the dancing as the sky grew dark was a pleasure to be a part of. The Piedmont Community Hall is an excellent place for a wedding: Lots of space, easy access in Oakland, a lovely ceremony site in the redwoods, and a perfect patio for sunset dinner and drinks and lots of laughs during toasts. You can find out more info about renting the Piedmont Community Hall here.
I spent my morning with the guys as Kent drank whiskey and listened to the Black Keys. A wonderful way to start your wedding day!
Here he is looking handsome and ready to see his bride!
Kent and Alyssa opted for a first look so that they could get all of their wedding party and family photographs done before their ceremony – and so that they could have more time to celebrate with their friends and family after they said their vows!
Alyssa’s ladies were such a supportive and beautiful team to have standing by her side. I loved their soft blue and teal dresses and their flowers went perfectly with their details!
I love these sweet moments when they first saw each other. It’s such a wonderful time to be able to look at each other and revel in the moment and the day. It’s official! We’re doing this today!
The park around the Piedmont Community Hall provided the perfect backdrop for some beautiful wedding photos.
And Alyssa’s bouquet was absolutely fricken stunning. Don’t you just adore this combo of flowers?! Amazing.
A sweet one of these two lovebirds in the pretty dappled light of the forest.
Alyssa is such a classic, porcelain beauty. Loved her hair, her sweet smile, and her beautiful lip color. The make-up artist did a wonderful job.
And then it was ceremony time! Alyssa walked in with her momma and together they took the cake. Alyssa was so happy walking down the aisle towards her man.
And that dress from behind is a dream! Such a perfect wedding gown.
The Piedmont Community Hall really is a beautiful place for a wedding. This image of the ceremony site about sums it up – redwoods, oak trees, and pretty dappled sunlight. Love it!
Saying their vows to one another.
And their first kiss! Woohoo! A beautiful union.
Officially husband and wife. Yay! xo
Because they had a first look and were done with all of their photos, we headed right into cocktail hour. Delicious snacks, thoughtful cocktails and wine, and a lovely atmosphere under the trees. This was absolutely a wedding afternoon done right.
After passed appetizers and some chatting, we headed into a beautiful golden hour dinner. The flowers that made up the simple centerpieces made a stunning statement with the piece of mirror. I loved the soft colors throughout this wedding day.
Lovely and whimsical gold polka dot seating arrangement layout. Simple to read and easy on the eyes.
Their sign in table and Polaroid guest book was a collection of images printed in postcards that each meant something to the couple. Guests sorted through postcards to find the one they loved the most and wrote their notes of love, happiness, and best wishes on the back. The table where this happened was decorated with beautiful black and white images of all the other couples in Kent and Alyssa’s family and life. I loved everything about this set up and the whole idea that drove it.
As guests sat for dinner, we “stole” Kent and Alyssa for a few golden hour sunset portraits around the property. With such a beautiful day came a stunning sunset and I am so so happy with the way these images turned out. A short 15-20 minute session in the evening can mean wonders… and it can all happen as guests sit for dinner!
This one is probably my favorite from the whole day. I would frame this one! xo
And so perfect in a hazy black and white for a few. Aren’t these two lovely?!
Alyssa’s dress looked beautiful all bustled up, too. I was also dyyyying over her long veil. So pretty. Swoon!
Like I said: Suuuuch a classic beauty and her styling/make up was flawless.
This semi aerial shot I did of their reception venue is an absolute favorite. All of their favorite people in the world assembled for dinner under the golden sunlight?! Yes yes and yes. XO
The toasts were meaningful and by turns both funny and sweet. It is so clear that Kent and Alyssa have some wonderful people who love them and care about them deeply. They’ve been through a lot together and it’s wonderful to have these people on their team, ready to go to the ends of the world for them. They aren’t always the most photographically powerful part of a wedding day, but I always always love toasts and everything they stand for.
As dusk fell and the evening got cooler, we headed inside to start the party. This one of Kent and Alyssa cutting their cake makes me happy. So romantic, especially in the low light and black and white. <3
Completely surrounded and supported by everybody that loves them.
And then an ultra romantic first dance under a beautiful chandelier. Wow.
DIP! <3 XO
And then the real party got started! haha. Loved their fun, rambunctious dance floor. Crazy colored lights, glow sticks, and cocktails. This one was definitely a success.
How cute is the bride, partying away the night with her best friends?!
Alyssa’s Matron of Honor and her husband, still so in love and dancing the night away.
And, of course, the newlyweds, having the time of their life as newly married best friends.
Kent and Alyssa, thank you both so much for having me along to document and celebrate your wedding day with you. It was absolutely a pleasure to capture your day and I am so happy with the images we created and the happy day I was able to document. I wish you both the best for a life filled with happiness, friends, and really fun dance parties.
XO
