I met up with Shreya and Vik over the weekend to take Rancho San Antonio Park engagement photos. This park, located in Cupertino, is huuuge and super beautiful. I didn’t know what to expect when I showed up and was very impressed with the lay of the land and how pretty it is. There is tons of space to play and explore and hike… and take photos!
We started with these farther away photos and they are actually some of my favorite shots from the entire session. I just love these trees and the light was just right.
We shot some closer, slightly more intimate portraits, too. Isn’t Shreya a doll? So gorgeous. Vik, you are one lucky man!
A couple in black and white. I love both of these, but that second one really makes me smile. I feel like it sums up their relationship: calm, totally confident with each other, and totally in love. The best.
We hunted down this tree. Shreya had seen it in some photos from another photographer and knew immediately that she wanted it in her images. It’s huuuge, as you can see from the photos, and totally magical. It was fun capturing how tiny they are in comparison to it, as well as some lovely and simple portraits right under the branches, against the huge trunk.
Lots of laughter. Photoshoots are a good time, I promise!
This spot was their idea… and I LOVE it! What a lovely little secret hideaway, ya know? Perfect for a few kisses.
Here’s another favorite from this session.
Okay, helloooo gorgeous! Vik actually picked this ring out all by himself. Wow, right? I was super impressed. It’s gorgeous! Shreya, you lucky girl. Keep that thing this shiny! ;)
I love the diamonds along the band, too. Such a beautiful touch.
I made these two sit in the grass for a few shots. I had a vision and needed to make it happen. As the sun went down and the ground started to get evening-y, they sat down for some sweet portraits in the grass. I absolutely love them; totally worth it, you two!
I love this out of focus one, especially in black and white. There’s just something so romantic about an image that’s blurry and focused on the background. It’s been one of my favorite things, recently. Mixed in with focused photos, of course. It only works as a part of a story, in my opinion, but then it works great.
The following two images are probably my favorite shots from the entire session. I did this reflection in camera using a glass refractor. No photoshop was involved (actually, I removed a wire from the top, but that’s it) and I absolutely love the final product. I almost never do this in a blog post, but I really couldn’t decide which I liked more, black and white or color, and so I’ve included both. I’d love to hear which one you like the best!
A couple of last photos under the tree to close us out and then, as the sun totally and officially disappeared from the sky, we headed home. Love these so much!
Thanks for flying out from Houston to shoot with us, Vik! ;)
